The Scribbler is back!

It's been a while but here I am again...older, maybe a tad wiser and keen to share some ideas. As you may know, I qualified as a Rabbi earlier this year and am very blessed to be leading a wonderful community. I thought it would be fun to share my sermons with a wider audience, so I will be posting them here. Feel free to comment but please try to be polite!

Parashat Miketz (Chanukah): Dreams

Many years ago, a school friend told me something I've never forgotten, and it's directly related to the start of this week's Parasha. He said he'd heard that a recent archaeological expedition had made an astounding discovery in Egypt. Apparently, they had found the skeletons of seven cows buried one next to the other and had dated the remains to around the time of Joseph's sojourn in the land. The Torah's Isolation-Busters - Turning the Negative into Positive

31st July Shabbat Nachamu Edition Tisha B’Av, the Fast of the Ninth of Av is over for another year and tonight, we will enter Shabbat Nachamu – the Shabbat of Comforting. This is named after the first words of tomorrow’s Haftarah, where the Prophet Isaiah tells us: "נחמו נחמו עמי" -‘comfort, comfort My people, says Gd’ which introduces the Sheva Denechamata, the seven Shabbatot of comfort between Tisha B’Av and Rosh Hashanah. Our discomfort this year has however lasted more than three weeks. We have seen our friends and families wracked, shattered and broken by the disease which seems to show no sign of abating in other parts of this country and the wider world. Tomorrow should have seen the end of lockdown as we know it, with wedding receptions being allowed to take place, alongside the opening of leisure centres such as bowling alleys and skating rinks. Parashat Mishpatim: Divine Blue
